not finding them
« on: March 21, 2009, 06:50:17 PM »
im having a hard time finding sheds  :dunno: i pack way back into the area where ive been following a heard of elk. last week they all had there head gear and this week there all bald so i know there's some great shed in there some where. ive walked the game trails these elk are using but im just not seeing them. i got right behind the herd today, waited for them to pass thru and checked the area, nothing. these elk are staying in a pretty small area, any tips?

look near the bases of the trees and also fallen logs that have branches sticking out. They gotta be there someplace you'd think lol

im the only one who goes up there. ive been hiking back in there for a couple months now and the only sign of any body up there is my own. i.e tracks in the snow and soft dirt thru the woods. its not a secret area but it is a pain to get to

Are you sure you looked at bald bulls, like confirmed pedicles, because a majority are still packing.

one, yes  i was looking at a very large bull with no antlers, may have been the 8x8 ive been following. the other bulls may or may not have been in the group they were a ways off with lots of cows. two, your right "there's always somebody else" but up in kapowsin i would say 90% of the guys up there dont get to far from the truck during hunting season and they really dont go far during the off season. the areas so big and with such good access the odds that some one has been putting the kind of time i have in this little inconspicuous area as i have are low but not impossible. i go up there at least twice a week and mine are the only tire tracks up to the gate every time. i'll be back up there in a couple days maybe that bull dropped his and the others are still packing  :dunno:
